About Rob

Hi.  I’m Rob Holmes.

I was raised in New Jersey in a family of private investigators where Sherlock Holmes was common bedtime fodder.  At the age of 12, on my Timex Sinclair 1000, I authored an early version of Powerpoint for my 7th grade science project, introducing my entire school to their first social media experience.

This same year, 1982, I began conducting trademark infringement investigations at the age of twelve.  At this time, I was introduced the the concept of Intellectual Property and its value to our society.  I was making undercover buys on the Jersey Shore boardwalks and flea markets as common weekend recreation.  Little did I know this was Holmes family breeding in action.

In 1989, I was the first student at my college with a consistent Internet connection in his dorm room. It was there where I began to harness the power of social medium as one of the first users of beta versions of America Online and Prodigy. That same year I co-founded Willy Productions and created short films seen all over New Jersey and Philadelphia.

During the years of 1989 to 1993 I attended Bible College and was a youth leader, working with outreach groups across North America and Asia, and was a common presenter at events. I tested the political waters while in school as well, marching on Washington alongside the Vice President of the United States.

I moved to Los Angeles in 1994 to pursue standup comedy. In 1995, I found employment at a premiere Intellectual Property investigative firm where I conducted the first ever online IP investigations. There I also pioneered the study of the “virtual crime scene”, which is now taught worldwide.

In 2001, I founded my own firm, which has become known as the best of its kind in the world. My clients are a Who’s Who list of Fortune 500 companies. Throughout my career, I have been sought as an adviser to a wide range of officials and businesspeople. I have been featured on television, in books, and in newspapers & magazines; and have been well-received as a speaker on the topic of IP Cybercrime.

I am CEO of IPCybercrime.com LLC, Editor of Knockoff Report, an independent consultant, and sit on the boards of OneMany Inc. and a Federally-funded IPR initiative.

Sincerely,
